G.I.JOE became a staple of my childhood and by the time the next miniseries came around, there was a bunch of new characters that were introduced to augment the original characters. If you have not seen the first post, or unsure how G.I.JOE started, <CLICK HERE> to read the first article.

The second miniseries was called, “The Revenge of Cobra:”

G.I.JOE Characters:

The first article covered the early beginning of this toy line and the leaders of Cobra. Here we are going to look at some of the early JOE teammates.

Snake Eyes:

One of the most popular characters in the updated JOE team is Snake Eyes. He is a very mysterious character that has a background that is just as mysterious. He is the adopted brother of Storm Shadow, who he grew up with in the Arashikage clan. Both of them received the same training from the Hard Master. Later, they went their separate ways and Snake Eyes became a G.I. JOE.

In 1982 when Hasbro was re-introducing the toy line, they made Snake Eyes into an action figure. Below is the 1983 version of the toy which has the swivel arm and his accessories:

Duke:

When the toy line was originally released, the Joe team did not have a figure of their leader Duke. Hasbro made him available as a mail away figure and a mass produced retail version. The biggest difference was the small American decal that you could put on your figure. A smaller difference is that the file card had a red back and also came with the Flag Points promotion.

Here is my 1983 retail version of Duke that is complete with his accessories:

Scarlett:

Another one of my favorite Joe characters is Scarlett. She is also one of the original members of the team. That brings us to her action figure.
Scarlett was first released in 1982. She was the first female action figure in the 3 3/4 inch toy line, making her one of the only figures of that year to have a completely unique mold. Little known fact; her mold is the only figure that does not have any peg holes in the feet. All of the original figures from 1982 have the peg holes.

And here is my original Scarlett from 1983:

Conclusion:

There are many more figures that will be covered, but the ones listed above are by far some of the most popular in the toy line. Out of these three, which one is your favorite? Drop a comment and let me know.
