The 3 3/4 Journey Begins
Growing up, I spent almost every weekend with my grandmother. We did a variety of things together like watch television, karate, shopping, participating in the local remote control car races, and, going to see the latest movies. This is a quick story of how I began loving the 3 3/4 GI JOE toy line.
One Saturday we were going grocery shopping at Clicks:
Clicks back in the day was like the Walmart of today. They had a grocery section, housewares, hardware, sporting goods, and most importantly toys! I was always excited to go there because of the toy aisles.
One Saturday, my grandmother took me grocery shopping with her and like always, she allowed me to go look in the toy aisle. I ran over to that department to see what was new. To my surprise, they got in these military figures that were a tad larger than the green army men that I was used to playing with. These new figures were almost 4 inches in height and had multiple points of articulation. The new toy line was GI JOE:

These new figures were really cool! They also offered several vehicles that they could drive like Jeeps, tanks, helicopters, jet planes, which some of these even came with a driver. I rushed excitedly back to my grandmother and quite literally dragged her to the toy aisle to see this new toy line. She broke down and allowed me to get one item. I looked at the different offerings and chose:
Another Toy Line to Love
Once we got back to my grandma’s house, I opened up my new toy. After I assembled it and applied the stickers, The Cobra H.I.S.S. was ready for battle. This tank and figure sparked my love for this line and prompted me to get some good guys for the H.I.S.S. to battle with.
